HIGH PROFIT PRINTERS - VINYL CUTTERS - ENGRAVERS - DENTAL MILLING MACHINES - SURGE/LAN PROTECTORS
With the VersaStudio, we've taken everything that makes a Roland printer great and packed it into one powerful, profit-producing package. Award winning mild solvent inks. Your choice of media. Metallic and white ink options. One device that can be used as a t-shirt printing press, a sign making machine, or both. All from your desktop.
Roland VersaSTUDIO BN-20 - With a Roland VersaSTUDIO BN-20 20-inch inkjet printer/cutter, the possibilities are endless. This powerful, yet compact printer includes everything you need to print and cut high quality durable graphics right at your desktop. Add stunning metallic effects, perfect for premium brands. Display your graphics indoors or out for lasting impact.
A complete low-cost solution, the BN-20 is a great investment for your growing business.
The VersaStudio utilizes the same advanced print technology as Roland’s VersaCAMM VS series. The new piezo inkjet head prints up to 1440 dpi using variable droplet technology with seven precise droplet sizes to optimize image quality. Roland Intelligent Pass Control™ Technology delivers exceptional quality prints with smoother gradations, richer density and deeper image saturation for photographic and vector output. Best of all, the print technology is built to last. The gold-plated head reduces static, preventing clogging, and a patent-pending wiper system decreases wear and tear on the print head and prolongs its life by reducing buildup.
The BN-20 is the easiest to use of any device in the Roland printer lineup. All functionality of the device is handled through the VersaStudio utility software. The utility software package is actively open in the Windows® taskbar and controls basic machine functions, status and calibrations. The utility software also monitors replacement of consumable parts like wipers and contour cutting blades.
The BN-20 offers a choice of four different ink configurations. Four-color (CMMYK) is the best choice for standard process color inkjet printing. Eco-SOL MAX offers fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low cost per square foot and broad uncoated media support. Eco-SOL MAX is virtually odorless, and graphics are water and UV resistant up to three years outdoors** without lamination. ** CMYK only. Five color metallic option — combining metallic silver ink with CMYK — is the premier choice for versatility and market competitiveness. This allows you to add value and sophistication to virtually any graphic on a wide range of media, including clear vinyl and films, fine art paper, canvas, and photobase paper. Metallic Silver Eco-SOL MAX ink — recognized as DPI Product of the Year — can be printed as a spot color, or combined with CMYK to produce over 500 striking metallic and pearlescent colors. The new Metallic Texture Library adds 26 different texture fills as well.
The BN-20 is equipped with a new simplified media feed system that automatically aligns roll media in the printer. This intuitive system detects and adjusts the pinch roll wheels to the width of the installed media, ensuring proper placement and tracking. The BN-20 supports roll media from six inches to 20 inches in width, weighing up to 13 pounds.
The VersaStudio comes complete with R-Works, an entry-level design package created by Roland. It allows you to import stock photos or personal photos taken with a digital camera, create original layouts with text, and edit custom print and cut graphics. R-Works also includes a vector art library of stock designs.
Developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters, VersaWorks RIP software ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use. Based on the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine, VersaWorks includes advanced error diffusion, 16-bit rendering, and the Roland Color system, which accurately reproduces more than 1,000 standard colors and 512 metallic colors. With Roland@NET, updates are free and easy, automatically uploaded through your Internet connection. VersaWorks is fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP.
Roland’s own unique, patent-pending automated Ink Circulation System reduces waste of metallic silver ink for dramatically lower running costs. The system ensures exceptional image quality over the long term and minimizes VersaStudio’s maintenance requirements.
The VersaStudio streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics, eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics. For laminated graphics, our Quadralign® four-point optical registration system allows users to remove prints, laminate and simply reload them for precision cutting. Quadralign automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion.

As the world’s first UV inkjet printer/cutters, Roland’s DPI award-winning VersaUV LEC series quickly revolutionized the packaging prototype and short-run label industries. For the first time, professionals could print CMYK plus white and clear inks for varnishing and embossing effects on virtually any substrate and then crease, contour cut or perf-cut their designs, all on one device through one seamless workflow. Now, our 54" model takes your creativity to an even larger scale.
Roland VersaUV LEC Series UV Printer/Cutters - VersaUV uses safe, low-heat LED lamps to print on materials ranging from metallic and synthetic papers and foils to BOPP, PE and PET film, even leather and fabrics. Also available in two 30” models, VersaUV creates remarkably rich effects including matte and high-gloss finishes in your choice of textures and patterns. Roland ECO-UV inks produce graphics that are easy to handle and can be stretched across curved surfaces and sharp edges without cracking. With VersaUV, your prototypes and comps are so realistic, they are virtually indistinguishable from finished products.
With all of the packaging options available today, creating accurate proofs and prototypes has become more challenging than ever. Whether it’s a box, bag, label or shrink film, the VersaUV series prints vibrant CMYK plus white plus clear coat. These amazing devices also automatically crease, contour cut or perf-cut virtually any shape or dieline with absolute precision.
The VersaUV is a very capable pre-press and proofing device that can save commercial printers the many costs associated with press downtime. In fact, each time a shop has to take a flexo or gravure press offline to print a proof or prototype, significant productivity and profits are lost. Flexo printing even a single proof or comp requires creating plates, adding labor and material costs to the job. The LEC series eliminates these issues for businesses and allows them to keep larger presses online for production. Support for colour proofing with CGS ORIS Color Tuner, GMG Color Proof and FlexoProof/Dot Proof and EFI Print Pack 2 for Color Proof XF and Fiery XF RIP is available. With the ability to print directly to many offset, rotogravure and flexo stocks and the ability to simulate UV varnish and embossing, the LEC generates very realistic proofs at a fraction of the cost and time.
With VersaUV, you can eliminate outsourcing for short production runs as well. In small quantities, you can easily produce truly unique, customized graphics and wraps of virtually any shape, size and texture. Production is easy. With VersaUV, there are no plates or film to produce. Simply design on your personal computer, send your file to the printer, and VersaUV does the rest, printing and digitally die-cutting your finished print quickly and easily.
The LEC series includes an automated media take-up system to facilitate precision unattended printing and cutting. This pre-assembled unit includes an advanced tension-controlled take-up system for optimum media feed and tracking.
The LEC series streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics. By eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics, the LEC integrated cutter saves valuable time and effort. The LEC can contour cut through the top layer of lined media or create a perforated cut on non-lined media (like card stock for packaging prototypes). By switching out the cutting tool, the LEC can also crease your media for easy, accurate folding of packaging prototypes.
The ability to reposition UV lamps automatically is another Roland innovation. While the exact configuration of UV lamps varies with each LEC model, all three enable your choice of gloss or matte clear finishes.
VersaUV LED lamps last up to 10,000 hours, which is 10 times longer than conventional UV lamps.
The Intelligent Ink Circulation System circulates the white and clear inks in LEC-540/330 models every eight hours to prevent the settling of pigments in the lines. In addition, this system controls the discharge of white ink and minimizes waste by monitoring the white ink usage and the types of jobs that are printed.
By preventing unnecessary discharges and minimizing the amount of ink that is subject to settling, this automated system reduces significantly the ink waste and eliminates manual maintenance procedures that add labor and decrease productivity. Note that, due to the nature of white ink, the white ink cartridge still needs to be shaken prior to use each day as the ink in the cartridge is not circulated by this system.
Across a wide variety of applications and media, Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology delivers outstanding image quality in all print modes while eliminating virtually any signs of banding. First introduced in the SOLJET PRO III series, this patent-pending system ensures that graphics look great when viewed indoors or outdoors, up close and at a distance.
Roland understands that busy shops need to maximize the layout of their workstations and printing equipment. High-speed Ethernet network connectivity is built-in standard to the LEC series, so it can quickly process gigabytes worth of image data for everyone in your shop.
The LEC-540 features larger UV LED lamps to expedite production. Equipped with six high-precision print heads, the LEC-540 delivers a maximum print speed of 126 sqft./hr. in High Speed mode. The LEC-330 prints up to 101 sqft./hr. Across the LEC series, each print mode has been meticulously fine tuned for the head configuration to deliver optimized performance and superior print quality. The 1440x1440 dpi mode produces press-proofs with flawlessly smooth gradations, super fine details and sharp text on actual substrates used for production.. Roland Intelligent Pass Control™ ensures consistent print quality with virtually no signs of banding in all print modes.

The system features two components: a print heater to accelerate ink fastness and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance. Heater settings are either user adjustable at the control panel or set within the VersaWorks media settings.
Roland-designed media flanges provide more robust media handling capabilities when printing on heavier rolls. This development prevents skewing and ensures stable media feeding through long print runs. The SP-300i handles rolls weighing up to 44 lbs. and the SP-540i accepts up to 66 lbs. and 8.3” in diameter.
The SP-i series produces outstanding photorealistic graphics regardless of viewing distance. The printer precisely controls droplet placement in both the print head travel and media feed directions to provide up to 1440x720 dpi resolution. Built to Roland standards for precision imaging, the SP-i series features digital servomotors to micro-position the media. Variable droplet technology uses three droplet sizes to allow the right amount of ink to be deposited on the media at precisely the right time and in exactly the right place. This state-of-the-art implementation of Piezo print head technology delivers truly breathtaking output with beautifully smooth, band-free accurate color on a wide range of media – even at the highest print speeds.
The VersaCAMM SP-i series powered by Roland Intelligent Pass Control achieves faster printing for greater productivity. On banner media, the SP-540i achieves 84 sqft./hr. in High-Speed mode and 52 sqft./hr. in Standard mode. The SP-540i and SP-300i are up to 50% faster in Standard mode than the previous models with the addition of Roland Intelligent Pass Control.
ECO-SOL MAX boosts the performance of Roland inkjets at low running costs that both you and your customers will appreciate.
For a low-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.16 per sqft. and an average media cost of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.46 per sqft. For a high-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.28 per sqft. and an average media cost* of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.58 per sqft.
The SP-300i and SP-540i feature an automated maintenance system that saves valuable ink and time resulting in lower running costs. The system also ensures consistent image quality and trouble-free operation for busy production environments. During normal operation the printer can wipe and clean the print heads at regular intervals to prevent clogging from dust and other debris. If the unit is idle for a period of time, the printer can also perform an automated routine to maintain the print heads in top condition. In addition, a new maintenance cover ensures easy access to print heads for manual cleanings.
To facilitate precision unattended printing, the VersaCAMM SP-i series supports an optional automated media feed and take-up system. This system includes a convenient front-mounted take-up roller and an advanced tension-controlled take-up unit for optimum media feed and tracking. The TU2-30 and TU2-54 are priced at $2,094.75 each.
Eco-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland ECO-SOL MAX ink and includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated adhesive-back vinyls and other popular substrates. The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper.
